Browsers .. Browsers

Monday, August 31, 2009 comments

It came to a point when I have to install different kinds of browsers in my computer, it is for my work. I then figured out that there are plenty of browsers exist, before this I only knew three which are Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Google Chrome. Pity me ha? I'm an IT student yet I lack knowledge that there are also other browsers that I can try to use. Turned out that Opera and Safari were added to my list.

The most used browser is Internet Explorer because it comes with the installation of Windows Operating System. Then again. other users prefer to use other browsers depending on what is most compatible with there internet activities. I, prefer to use Firefox. Why? Because it best suits for me, especially when it comes to my work. However, some users say that they prefer to use Opera or Safari best, and the newly released Google Chrome is also a good candidate.

I won't write here the specific advantages and disadvantages of each browser. It can all be found in the internet. What I like to point out is that, if you're not happy with what browser you currently use, try another. There are plenty to choose from. Find the best browser that can give all the comfort and effectiveness you need.

MSU-IIT's Cheerleading Competition (Palakasan '09)

Thursday, August 27, 2009 comments: 3

Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology held its Cheerleading Competition today, August 27, 2009. This is the first cheerleading competition ever in PALAKASAN history. For the passed years MSU-IIT have had its Cheerdance competitions but this year, KASAMA decided to offer a different cuisine.

I bet you are wondering what is the difference among Cheerleading and Cheerdance. Cheerdance actually is the dance portion of a cheerleading performance. It comprises of choreographed dance routines that go along with the music. On the other hand, cheerleading is a sport made from organized elements such as tumbling, jumps, cheers, stunting, and dance. I can say that cheerdance falls under cheerleading.

MSU-IIT's cheerdance competition was participated by the school's seven (7) Colleges, namely; College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS Arachnids), College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA Griffins), College of Science and Mathematics (CSM Lynx), Integrated Developmental School (IDS Hornets), College of Engineering (COE Dragons), College of Education (CED Phoenix), and this year's host School of Engineering Technology (SET Tigers). The event started around 6:00pm which was awakened by the oustanding Octava, amazing PALAKASAN montage, and other stunning performances by the school's different performing troupes.

After each college showed their cheerleading performance, of course everybody is excited to hear the judges' verdict. And the ranking is;

Champion - CSM Lynx
2nd - IDS Hornets
3rd - CED Phoenix
4th - CBA Griffins
5th - CASS Arachnids
6th - COE Dragons
7th - SET Tigers

Congratulation to the Lynx for winning the competition and congratulations to KASAMA for pulling out a wonderful event.

As the Dawn Breaks

Wednesday, August 26, 2009 comments

It's morning again and the sun is starting to crawl its way back into the sky. At last, after a long night of working, the dawn breaks. I have been seeing this dawn breaking event for more than a month now, ever since I started working in a night shift. My work shift is really tiring but having the chance to see the sun rise is worth it all.

I love how the cold early morning breeze touches my cheeks, like a loved one greeting me with morning kisses. I can hear our neighbor's roosters mighty cock-a-doodle-doo, like an alarm clock trying to wake everybody up. Noisy vehicles are passing by our house, making its way to start a day. ... The things that I hear, feel, and see are just few of the many reasons that inspires me everyday. Instead of wasting my time thinking of my life's complications, I spend it all in appreciating little yet extraordinary things that God has given me. Reminding me how great life is and how greater it can be.

Learn to see things in its most beautiful angle. =)

Facebook: Friends For Sale Mania (Tips on Sales)

"Help me raise my value."

"Buy me!"

These are the most common comments I get in my Friends For Sale (FFS) profile. FFS is the newest way of human trafficking.hahaha I consider it human trafficking. The game is simple, you buy them, they buy you, and they can buy your owned pet. If your sales are active then lots of money comes in your account. Of course these moneys can't be used when you go shopping outside FSS, it's FSS exclusive.

How to raise your value? . Very simple. All you need is a little sales talk. Find someone so damn rich to be your owner. Then have someone else to buy you and let your owner buy you back. Each time you're bought, your value increases and so as your money.

How to gain lots of FSS cash? . Gaining FSS money is not that hard. In every transaction you make you gain something. First, when you're bought. Second, when a pet of yours is bought. And lastly, when you put your pet to work. There are also free cash that you can find in people's FSS profiles. You can see them as a piece of coin with a value of how much it cost. Just click on it and it will be automatically added in your account.

I guess that's all it is. So, start buying friends, enslave them or trade them to someone else. Better start raising your funds and your value to dominate the world of facebook human trafficking! *bwahahah (evil laugh)

Calculations in Love

Saturday, August 15, 2009 comments

Hello there! I got something interesting to share today. While I was crawling through the web, searching for any fun articles, I came over this news in CNET about using math in finding a lifetime partner. It caught my attention really. I just wonder if I could use this calculation for my own partner finding adventure.(!grinning!)

Well anyway, I think this only works if you have plenty to choose from which makes this formula more usable. Given 100 choices, mathematicians believed that you have to disregard half and choose the best between the remaining half. Still too many don't you think? This half-half method gives you 25 percent of picking the best candidate.

But them came John Gilbert and Frederick Mosteller of Harvard University. Presenting a new method in choosing the best partner. The method involves division. Simple divide 100 by e (the base of natural algorithms, which is around 2.72), getting 37 as a result. Which gives you 37 percent chance of picking the best candidate. So out of 100, pick 37, drop the rest, and out of the 37 choose the next best one.

The good thing about this formula is that you can apply it in any number. It doesn't have to be a hundred. Even if you have 10 or 20 or perhaps 30 candidates, this will work.

Nice huh? A formula for choosing a partner. However it is still best if you choose by means of using your heart. This calculation might help but still it's your happiness that counts. Choose the best that will make you happy.

An Unexpected Visit of the Reaper

Friday, August 14, 2009 comments

The other day, I was informed with a terrible news. My friend's father died. It was sudden and surprising, definitely not expected. They say that the death was caused by a motorcycle accident. My friend's father was driving home when the tragedy happened. It was said that he just got out of balance while driving at a steep rough road. An internal organ was damaged which caused his death. He was not drunk at all nor there was any other vehicle involved. The reaper just made its visit and took him.

Having to hear this news I feel bad for my friend. Condolence to him and his family. But besides this loss, it also made me think that what if the same thing happens to me? I own a motorcycle and I have been driving for about 4 years now. I have encountered some accidents before but nothing huge. Thank God I'm still alive. I hope that the reaper won't visit me yet. I still have plenty of plans in my life and my goals are yet too far to reach.

But hey! This is life. We'll never know when, where, and how our story ends. Upon knowing this incident, it made me realize more about how to deal with my daily living. I thank God for each day I live. I let the people I love feel that I love them. And most of all, I enjoy each day like there's no tomorrow. Life is short, might as well make the most out of it.

Sleepless Nights

Thursday, August 13, 2009 comments

Having trouble falling asleep during night? Always waking up in the middle of the night and finding it hard to sleep again? Waking up early even if you had a very late night sleep? You probably have insomnia and probably wanna get rid of it.

Insomnia is a disorder that brings us those dilemmas I have mentioned a while ago. Causes and kinds of insomnia varies from each individual. But it brings the same effect; tireness and the incapability to focus at work or any kind of activities you're into. I have never heard any prescribed medicine to get rid of it, unless ofcourse if you wanna use sleeping pills just to have a good night rest. But you could always prevent it from happening. If you have a shifting work and your shift varies frequently then the bigger your chances to have insomnia. If you are emotionally depressed and stressed, insomnia might crawl its way towards you. Furthermore, if you're always being disturb with noises and other stuffs when you're sleeping there's also a chance that you might get insomnia. The best thing you could do is to stay away from these events as hard as you can. Just always remember, have a healthy living to have a better and long life.

Where do our taxes go?! (A $20K Dinner at NY)

Monday, August 10, 2009 comments

I was watching the evening news of ABS-CBN when I saw the issue about the $20,000 worth of dinner of Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo at New York. Wow! Pretty expensive.

A US tabloid which is The New York Post had a report last August 7, 2009 that Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and her entourage are having a fancy and lavish dinner at Le Cirque. Le Cirque is known as one of the top 40 restaurants in US.

A Catholic Bishop from Caloocan City, Deogracias Iñiguez Jr., pushed to have an investigation regarding this posh dinner in New York. The bishop questioned whether it was the people's money she and her entourage was spending. He also added that even if it was their own money they used, it is inappropriate to spend such amount. It may show a disregard to the crisis that we are experiencing.

The dinner at Le Cirque was confirmed by Press Secretary Cerge Remonde but assured that there were no public funds used during the meal. He also said that this was just an "agitation propaganda". The report of the US tabloid was exaggerated so that it can cause a bad reflection on Pres. Arroyo's administration.

What an issue indeed! I never did like the current president and I'll never will. If she spent $20k for just a dinner and used the public funds.. Well, I hope she'd get a tummy ache that will last for 20 yrs for doing such thing.

I'm a 4-eyed Geek!

Saturday, August 8, 2009 comments

I never had any problems with my eyes.. I have a perfect vision according to the doctor. But adding extra precautions for my good eyesight is a plus.

Since I'm an IT student which spends most of my time in front of the computer, my eyes are exposed to computer caused illnesses such as Computer Vision Syndrome(CVS). CVS is the most common eye illness that can be obtained by staying in front of a computer screen for long hours. Symptoms are; blurred vision, redness and itching of the eyes, headaches, neck and shoulder pain. CVS may be caused by the reduced blinking of our eyes. When we focus on the monitor screen our blinking minimizes resulting into dryness of the eyes which brings redness and itching. We need to blink normally around 10-15 times in a minute to moisten our tear film and maintain a healthy vision.

In order for me to prevent or relieve myself from CVS, I bought glasses. My lens are made for preventing computer screen radiation and as well as other harmful stuffs. My glasses don't have grades, I already mentioned that I don't have any problem with my vision. It is just a simple anti radiation glasses that protects my eyes. Which now makes me a 4-eyed geek!

Geeks are good! All hail to the geeks!
