The styles are editable which gives the user the capability to change some of the theme features. Also, plenty of plug-ins are all over the internet free to use and very handy. And the major plus of WordPress is that it's best use for SEO purposes.

If you happen to pass by my blog once in a while you might catch some easy to learn tips and tricks in Wordpress.

Early Morning Brownout

Saturday, September 12, 2009 comments

I woke up today feeling great and energetic. It is a great Saturday morning. The morning breeze is cool, the sunrise is perfect, and the birds that chirps makes me feel more lively.

For my usual daily routine and before anything else gets done, I always turn on my laptop first. I sit for a while and check my mails, my facebook, my twitter, etc. It would have been a pleasant start for a wonderful day. Until I noticed that I was not getting any internet connection. Then I realized that we don't have any electricity! Brownout! My laptop could handle around 2 more hours without being plugged but my router does not. Darn! What an early surprise to ruin my day. The internet is my second home. Not being able to get into the web makes me feel uncomfortable. But what can I do? Nothing. So I decided to get up and head for my room. Might as well go back to sleep. I turned the switch of my room lights on so that I'll be able to know if the electricity gets back. When I was about to close my eyes, the lights went on! Horay! Electricity is back! I hurriedly ran downstairs and opened my laptop. At last, I'm in the web.

I admit, I am and internet addict. ^_^

Old Photographs

Thursday, September 10, 2009 comments
Moments ago, I opened my facebook account to check for updates and notifications. While I was scrolling down my homepage's news feed, I noticed this new album a friend created. When I checked it.. wow!.. what are these photographs? Old pictures. Lots of funny, happy, and memorable photos. They were all taken around 3 years ago. I can't help but laugh and be amazed.

How I miss those good old days and how I miss all those friends that I used to hang-out with. Thanks to my friend who uploaded these photos! ^_^

Here are some pictures that was included in the album.

Four Bottles of Beer

Saturday, September 5, 2009 comments
Four bottles of beer on a table with five chairs, sat by five people outside a convenient store sharing one common thing, friendship.

I was one of that 5 people and I had a beer in my hand. I was with friends whom I have not been able to be with for a while. It was an unexpected gathering. I never thought that a simple invite will lead into a small but memorable reunion.

I will not further give the details. That would be too boring to read. The same with all of my other posts, I would like to point out one thing. No matter where you go or what you do, as long as you have your true friends with you... a simple thing might turn out as one of the best memories you could cherish for a lifetime. Even for just 4 bottles of beer. ^_^

Are You Happy?

Wednesday, September 2, 2009 comments
Are you happy?... Am I happy? Had been thinking about this question since a friend of mine asked me, "Malipayon lage ka plang?". Am I? Yes, I am. I am happy. Happy not because I have a perfect life but because I am contented with what I have.

“Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections.”

I am not famous. I am not rich. I don't own luxury cars and very cool gadgets. I know a few people, most of them are strangers and just a few are trusted friends. I don't have a perfect family. I never had a perfect and complete family for more than half of my life. I am not a boss in my work, just a regular employee that takes commands. Nothing special, very normal individual, but happy. Why? Cause instead of wishing for more, I stayed contented. I already have what I needed. I have a few but very trustworthy and reliable friends. An incomplete yet the most caring, loving and supportive family. A not so high paying job but definitely gives me satisfaction. And I don't have any health problems of any kind. At this moment, this is all that I need and it is much more than what I asked from Him. I have more than enough reasons to smile than to frown.

How about you? Are you happy? ^_^

Browsers .. Browsers

Monday, August 31, 2009 comments

It came to a point when I have to install different kinds of browsers in my computer, it is for my work. I then figured out that there are plenty of browsers exist, before this I only knew three which are Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Google Chrome. Pity me ha? I'm an IT student yet I lack knowledge that there are also other browsers that I can try to use. Turned out that Opera and Safari were added to my list.

The most used browser is Internet Explorer because it comes with the installation of Windows Operating System. Then again. other users prefer to use other browsers depending on what is most compatible with there internet activities. I, prefer to use Firefox. Why? Because it best suits for me, especially when it comes to my work. However, some users say that they prefer to use Opera or Safari best, and the newly released Google Chrome is also a good candidate.

I won't write here the specific advantages and disadvantages of each browser. It can all be found in the internet. What I like to point out is that, if you're not happy with what browser you currently use, try another. There are plenty to choose from. Find the best browser that can give all the comfort and effectiveness you need.

MSU-IIT's Cheerleading Competition (Palakasan '09)

Thursday, August 27, 2009 comments: 3

Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology held its Cheerleading Competition today, August 27, 2009. This is the first cheerleading competition ever in PALAKASAN history. For the passed years MSU-IIT have had its Cheerdance competitions but this year, KASAMA decided to offer a different cuisine.

I bet you are wondering what is the difference among Cheerleading and Cheerdance. Cheerdance actually is the dance portion of a cheerleading performance. It comprises of choreographed dance routines that go along with the music. On the other hand, cheerleading is a sport made from organized elements such as tumbling, jumps, cheers, stunting, and dance. I can say that cheerdance falls under cheerleading.

MSU-IIT's cheerdance competition was participated by the school's seven (7) Colleges, namely; College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS Arachnids), College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA Griffins), College of Science and Mathematics (CSM Lynx), Integrated Developmental School (IDS Hornets), College of Engineering (COE Dragons), College of Education (CED Phoenix), and this year's host School of Engineering Technology (SET Tigers). The event started around 6:00pm which was awakened by the oustanding Octava, amazing PALAKASAN montage, and other stunning performances by the school's different performing troupes.

After each college showed their cheerleading performance, of course everybody is excited to hear the judges' verdict. And the ranking is;

Champion - CSM Lynx
2nd - IDS Hornets
3rd - CED Phoenix
4th - CBA Griffins
5th - CASS Arachnids
6th - COE Dragons
7th - SET Tigers

Congratulation to the Lynx for winning the competition and congratulations to KASAMA for pulling out a wonderful event.

As the Dawn Breaks

Wednesday, August 26, 2009 comments

It's morning again and the sun is starting to crawl its way back into the sky. At last, after a long night of working, the dawn breaks. I have been seeing this dawn breaking event for more than a month now, ever since I started working in a night shift. My work shift is really tiring but having the chance to see the sun rise is worth it all.

I love how the cold early morning breeze touches my cheeks, like a loved one greeting me with morning kisses. I can hear our neighbor's roosters mighty cock-a-doodle-doo, like an alarm clock trying to wake everybody up. Noisy vehicles are passing by our house, making its way to start a day. ... The things that I hear, feel, and see are just few of the many reasons that inspires me everyday. Instead of wasting my time thinking of my life's complications, I spend it all in appreciating little yet extraordinary things that God has given me. Reminding me how great life is and how greater it can be.

Learn to see things in its most beautiful angle. =)

Facebook: Friends For Sale Mania (Tips on Sales)

Sunday, August 23, 2009 comments
"Help me raise my value."

"Buy me!"

These are the most common comments I get in my Friends For Sale (FFS) profile. FFS is the newest way of human trafficking.hahaha I consider it human trafficking. The game is simple, you buy them, they buy you, and they can buy your owned pet. If your sales are active then lots of money comes in your account. Of course these moneys can't be used when you go shopping outside FSS, it's FSS exclusive.

How to raise your value? . Very simple. All you need is a little sales talk. Find someone so damn rich to be your owner. Then have someone else to buy you and let your owner buy you back. Each time you're bought, your value increases and so as your money.

How to gain lots of FSS cash? . Gaining FSS money is not that hard. In every transaction you make you gain something. First, when you're bought. Second, when a pet of yours is bought. And lastly, when you put your pet to work. There are also free cash that you can find in people's FSS profiles. You can see them as a piece of coin with a value of how much it cost. Just click on it and it will be automatically added in your account.

I guess that's all it is. So, start buying friends, enslave them or trade them to someone else. Better start raising your funds and your value to dominate the world of facebook human trafficking! *bwahahah (evil laugh)

Calculations in Love

Saturday, August 15, 2009 comments

Hello there! I got something interesting to share today. While I was crawling through the web, searching for any fun articles, I came over this news in CNET about using math in finding a lifetime partner. It caught my attention really. I just wonder if I could use this calculation for my own partner finding adventure.(!grinning!)

Well anyway, I think this only works if you have plenty to choose from which makes this formula more usable. Given 100 choices, mathematicians believed that you have to disregard half and choose the best between the remaining half. Still too many don't you think? This half-half method gives you 25 percent of picking the best candidate.

But them came John Gilbert and Frederick Mosteller of Harvard University. Presenting a new method in choosing the best partner. The method involves division. Simple divide 100 by e (the base of natural algorithms, which is around 2.72), getting 37 as a result. Which gives you 37 percent chance of picking the best candidate. So out of 100, pick 37, drop the rest, and out of the 37 choose the next best one.

The good thing about this formula is that you can apply it in any number. It doesn't have to be a hundred. Even if you have 10 or 20 or perhaps 30 candidates, this will work.

Nice huh? A formula for choosing a partner. However it is still best if you choose by means of using your heart. This calculation might help but still it's your happiness that counts. Choose the best that will make you happy.

An Unexpected Visit of the Reaper

Friday, August 14, 2009 comments

The other day, I was informed with a terrible news. My friend's father died. It was sudden and surprising, definitely not expected. They say that the death was caused by a motorcycle accident. My friend's father was driving home when the tragedy happened. It was said that he just got out of balance while driving at a steep rough road. An internal organ was damaged which caused his death. He was not drunk at all nor there was any other vehicle involved. The reaper just made its visit and took him.

Having to hear this news I feel bad for my friend. Condolence to him and his family. But besides this loss, it also made me think that what if the same thing happens to me? I own a motorcycle and I have been driving for about 4 years now. I have encountered some accidents before but nothing huge. Thank God I'm still alive. I hope that the reaper won't visit me yet. I still have plenty of plans in my life and my goals are yet too far to reach.

But hey! This is life. We'll never know when, where, and how our story ends. Upon knowing this incident, it made me realize more about how to deal with my daily living. I thank God for each day I live. I let the people I love feel that I love them. And most of all, I enjoy each day like there's no tomorrow. Life is short, might as well make the most out of it.

Sleepless Nights

Thursday, August 13, 2009 comments

Having trouble falling asleep during night? Always waking up in the middle of the night and finding it hard to sleep again? Waking up early even if you had a very late night sleep? You probably have insomnia and probably wanna get rid of it.

Insomnia is a disorder that brings us those dilemmas I have mentioned a while ago. Causes and kinds of insomnia varies from each individual. But it brings the same effect; tireness and the incapability to focus at work or any kind of activities you're into. I have never heard any prescribed medicine to get rid of it, unless ofcourse if you wanna use sleeping pills just to have a good night rest. But you could always prevent it from happening. If you have a shifting work and your shift varies frequently then the bigger your chances to have insomnia. If you are emotionally depressed and stressed, insomnia might crawl its way towards you. Furthermore, if you're always being disturb with noises and other stuffs when you're sleeping there's also a chance that you might get insomnia. The best thing you could do is to stay away from these events as hard as you can. Just always remember, have a healthy living to have a better and long life.

Where do our taxes go?! (A $20K Dinner at NY)

Monday, August 10, 2009 comments

I was watching the evening news of ABS-CBN when I saw the issue about the $20,000 worth of dinner of Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo at New York. Wow! Pretty expensive.

A US tabloid which is The New York Post had a report last August 7, 2009 that Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and her entourage are having a fancy and lavish dinner at Le Cirque. Le Cirque is known as one of the top 40 restaurants in US.

A Catholic Bishop from Caloocan City, Deogracias Iñiguez Jr., pushed to have an investigation regarding this posh dinner in New York. The bishop questioned whether it was the people's money she and her entourage was spending. He also added that even if it was their own money they used, it is inappropriate to spend such amount. It may show a disregard to the crisis that we are experiencing.

The dinner at Le Cirque was confirmed by Press Secretary Cerge Remonde but assured that there were no public funds used during the meal. He also said that this was just an "agitation propaganda". The report of the US tabloid was exaggerated so that it can cause a bad reflection on Pres. Arroyo's administration.

What an issue indeed! I never did like the current president and I'll never will. If she spent $20k for just a dinner and used the public funds.. Well, I hope she'd get a tummy ache that will last for 20 yrs for doing such thing.

I'm a 4-eyed Geek!

Saturday, August 8, 2009 comments

I never had any problems with my eyes.. I have a perfect vision according to the doctor. But adding extra precautions for my good eyesight is a plus.

Since I'm an IT student which spends most of my time in front of the computer, my eyes are exposed to computer caused illnesses such as Computer Vision Syndrome(CVS). CVS is the most common eye illness that can be obtained by staying in front of a computer screen for long hours. Symptoms are; blurred vision, redness and itching of the eyes, headaches, neck and shoulder pain. CVS may be caused by the reduced blinking of our eyes. When we focus on the monitor screen our blinking minimizes resulting into dryness of the eyes which brings redness and itching. We need to blink normally around 10-15 times in a minute to moisten our tear film and maintain a healthy vision.

In order for me to prevent or relieve myself from CVS, I bought glasses. My lens are made for preventing computer screen radiation and as well as other harmful stuffs. My glasses don't have grades, I already mentioned that I don't have any problem with my vision. It is just a simple anti radiation glasses that protects my eyes. Which now makes me a 4-eyed geek!

Geeks are good! All hail to the geeks!

A friend of mine told me to follow the link she shared on facebook. She says it's cute. So I looked at it and see if it's really cute. I found out that it was an article describing two people with the same name that met at facebook, fell in love, became lovers, and are now getting married. See the whole story with the link I provided. Cute isn't it?

There's More In Life Than Just a Fancy Heartbreak: Chapter 1

"I cried today... not because I miss you... or even wanted you... but because I realized I'm gonna be all right without you."

Found this quote in one of the sites I've visited today. I like it because I can relate with it. I just had a heartbreak. Yes, I was wounded and currently healing my self with the help of those people who truly loves me.

As we all know, heartbreaks are normal. They are part of our lives and all human beings will experience them. Once, twice, or a couple of times, a human will get its heart broken. It comes in many different ways and for a lot of reasons. We can't escape from it but we can overcome it.

I will not talk about the feeling of having a heartbreak. That's not my goal here. My goal is to let people know that there is more in life than just a fancy heartbreak. What happens when a person has a broken heart? That person tends to look at life in a negative way. Feels pain and anger towards self or towards the ex-lover. Suddenly asks questions of why and how. And that person regrets, filling his/her mind with numerous what if's. But hey! Wake up! No matter how much you hate, or cry each night, or grieve, you can't bring his/her back. You can't have everything back the way it used to be. So better stop whining and start living!

Today, I had one of those moments in life that makes living worthwhile. I was with my friends. These people are the ones that helped me. And thanks to them, I began to see again the beauty of life and they made me realize that weeping my heart out is not worth the effort for this stupid heartbreak.

Dusty Guitar

Monday, July 20, 2009 comments

It's been a long day.. I'm tired, stressed and exhausted. I sat on our sofa and saw my guitar leaning on the wall near the window. ... My dusty old guitar. It's been a while that I haven't played it. I wonder, if my guitar could talk, will it mock at me and scold me for not using it? Seeing my dusty old guitar made me wanna play it again.. So I got up, picked my guitar and cleaned it. Then I played a song that I can never forget.. I felt relaxed and calm. My dusty old guitar rescued me from my shattered situation. It's always nice to go back to the first things that interest you most... like me, playing my dusty old guitar.

The Requirement: Role of a Ninang

Saturday, July 18, 2009 comments
Filipinos have lots of traditions. One of it is having a "ninong" and "ninang" or Godparents during a child's baptismal. Mostly, the godparents are those you are closest to the parents, it may be a relative or a friend. What are the roles of these godparents? Do a child really need to have them?

Actually, godparents are more famous with Christians. A child having plenty of godparents is considered lucky indeed. Plenty of godparents means abundance in gifts during birthdays and Christmas. Also, godparents serves as the child's second parent. They are there to help the parents mold and guide the child as it grows up. They also extend a helping hand whenever the child have problems that parents couldn't handle. And they are an extension to the family, the more the merrier. You must be wondering why I am talking about grandparents here. Plainly because I am one of them.

This coming July 20 (Monday), I am going to attend a birthday celebration of my "inaanak" or god-child. My god-child is a girl and she is turning 1 year old. It's her first birthday and a gift is a must. Until now, I haven't bought a gift yet! I don't know what to buy. I got no brilliant idea in my mind. I want to buy something she could usefully use. This is the problem that I have been trying to resolve for quiet some time. I must go there with a gift, it's a requirement, or else the child's mother is going to kill me. Oh well, I guess I still have tomorrow to pick up a gift.

Distress of the Unemployed

Wednesday, July 15, 2009 comments
Here I am waiting for an email from a possible employer. I have been frantically eager opening my emails these past few days and see if there's a reply. But on my dismay there was none. This is my distress. The distress of an unemployed.

I have been looking for a job ever since I figured out that I don't have anything much to do at school. I am now just currently finishing my thesis and I have lots of extra hours doing nothing. A home based or part time job would be great. There were a few opportunities that knocked my door but they all didn't worked out for me.

I need a job. I need money to provide my personal necessities and I can't ask for it from my mother because obviously she won't give me as much money now as to when I was still a full-time student. I need to be productive. I haven't done anything much these past few weeks and I kinda want to feel busy. Also, my life is getting boring! It's nice to relax and do nothing for a while but not for a long period of time.

May a miracle happen. Can anyone recommend me for a job?!

Where's Sandara now? I have recently found out that she is now part of the group called 2NE1. A famous singing group in Korea composing of four lovely girls. And Sandara carries the name Dara in that group.

Here are some videos of 2NE1 I found in youtube.

Dara is so cute!

Computers: A Health Hazard

Sunday, July 12, 2009 comments
As an IT student, I spend most of my time in front of my computer. I do chatting, researching, playing games, programming, and other stuffs that could be done. I can do a lots of things, lots of work, and somehow gain money by just sitting plenty of hours in my computer. But is this wise? Doesn't it give lots of health risk? A little article reading online gave me some answers.

Using the computer for long hours gives us these following bad health side effects;

(1) Self Posture and Muscular Tension
(2) Breathing Manner and Blood Circulation
(3) Radiation
(4) Eye Health
(5) Digestive System

Self Posture and Muscular Tension. Sitting long hours in our computer lets us move minimally. Just our fingers and wrist constantly moving or a little slouching and leaning on our chair. This can have a direct effect on our spine and leads to muscular tension that may affect us for the rest of our lives.

Breathing Manner and Blood Circulation. Staying still for a long period of time slows down our breathing manner, minimizing our oxygen intake. This leads to minimal oxygen circulation in our blood affecting our brain, muscles, and major organs. As a result, our bodies and brains are incapable of working in their maximum level. It affects everything including headaches, low sickness immunity, mental inefficiency, physical fitness, and our hearts.

Radiation. Radiation emitted by our computer screen is not good, especially if we are exposed for long period of time.

Eye Health. Our eyes are designed to look for different shapes, colors, and angles. In able to practice these can lead to serious eye damage.

Digestive System. Food digestion is a major activity in our body. Food will have to be properly digested for better circulation of supplements. Our digestive muscles should be able to work freely. Eating in front of the computer is not suggested.

Knowing all these risks, how can we keep things in balance and maintain a good health? First and foremost, try to stand up and stretch for 10-15 minutes per hour. Flex your body and your muscles. Try to move more, even dance if you could. Second, take deep breathes while you're working. When you're at your break, loosen up your lungs and let your blood be filled with oxygen. Third, let your eyes look far for a moment, and let it rest as well. Let it see other things besides your monitor. Fourth, drink regularly. Always keep a bottle of fresh water in your desk. And lastly, don't forget to take regular breaks. Breathe some fresh air, walk around, and relax your mind.

After all these readings I realized that no matter how good you are with computers, no matter how fast you work when you're using it, it's always nice to have a habit of taking care of your health. What will you do with all your money if you're a sickly person? Spend it all for cure? Be health wise.

A cup of Coffee a day keeps diseases away!

Friday, July 10, 2009 comments

I'm a coffee drinker. I drink around 2-3 cups a day. My friends always scold me because of my drinking habit, as they say, it's bad for me. They are blaming coffee for my bad manner of always forgetting things. And so I tried to do some research. Is coffee really bad for my health? Is my drinking too much that I should reduce it?

I scanned a couple of articles in Google regarding coffee and health. I found out that moderate drinking of coffee, which is around 2-5 cups a day, leads to many health benefits. Yes, coffee leads to many health benefits.

Coffee does have some bad effects but studies shows that it is more beneficial than harmful. By drinking at least two cups of coffee a day, it reduces the risk of having Parkinson's Disease, Colon Cancer, Liver Cirrhosis, and Gallstones. Research also reveals that the caffeine content of coffee plays a great part in this benefits. It shows that the greater the caffeine content, the higher it gives direct risk reduction.

It is not only caffeine that contributes to these wide range of advantages. Coffee also contains antioxidants which reduces diabetes risk. It also composes of a compound known as "trigonelline" which gives the bitter taste and aroma, as well as being responsible for giving coffee the capability to help prevent dental cavities from forming.

Giving all these favors, of course, it is still unwise to drink a large amount of coffee everyday. Anything that's too much is an abuse to our body and to our health. Excessive drinking may lead to nervousness, jitters, and rapid heartbeat.

As for me, a moderate drinker, I don't have to worry much about my drinking habit. Now, I have proof to my friends that my memory lose is not to be blamed with coffee. Perhaps another factor affects it.

Google Chrome OS : What's the catch?

comments

Google recently announces its new project the Google Chrome OS.

Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. Because we're already talking to partners about the project, and we'll soon be working with the open source community, we wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve."

Hannah Montana: The Movie

comments
Hannah Montana: The Movie was released last April of 2009 but I have just finished watching it and I can't wait to post it here. I love it!

Hannah Montana revolves in the story of a simple teenager, Miley Stewart, who plays two roles in her life, as Miley and as the famous star singer Hannah. The movie is based on Disney's sitcom, Hannah Montana.

Songs like "Butterfly Fly Away" and "The Climb" were featured in this movie. Miley Cyrus played the lead role as Miley/Hannah. Together with Emily Osment, Mitchel Musso, Jason Earles, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Vanessa Williams. Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift were also part of this movie.

This is another one of Disney's amazing movies! Watch it!

Back at Blogging here in Blogspot

comments
Good day everyone! I'm back here in my blogspot account. It's been a while that I haven't posted. Well, maybe because blogging is not really my passion but a past time. And for these few weeks, I have been so busy that I was not able to add new posts.

For this post, I'd like to share a tragic incident that happened in our city, Iligan City. A bomb exploded yesterday, July 7, 2009, around 10:30 am. Police report states that it was hidden inside a car and later on exploded damaging nearby citizens including an army vehicle that was passing by the area. Reports also confirmed that there is death and many got injured. The investigation team of this bombing is considering that this has a relation with the earlier bombing in Julu, Solo that same day.

Crushes

Hands sweating? Cheeks getting red? Feeling shy? Tongue tied? Are these mixed emotions bothers you whenever you see him/her. You must be having a crush on that person, kid.

I have this new friend. She's sweet, pretty, and cool. But what I like best about her is the way she giggles and laugh whenever her crush is around. She feels happy whenever she sees him but definitely pretends to ignore his presence. Weird isn't it?! Actually she's not the only one experiencing these kinds of emotions, I think almost everybody does, including me.

Why do we have crushes? Why do we adore someone we have just met? Why do we go crazy on hunky actors and sexy actresses? Or why do we feel uncomfortable when there's no reason to? Crushes are basically normal. It's part of a human life cycle. It's the stage where we come to discover how it feels to like another person. It gives us mixed emotions cause we really don't know how to react with it. Usually arises during puberty period and may extend until adulthood. It's an awkward feeling but we absolutely cradle it.

No matter if your crush is a celebrity, a classmate, a schoolmate. Or maybe your next door neighbor, or your school teacher. It's absolutely fine and what you're feeling is just normal. The next time you see your crush, try to smile at him/her, maybe he'd/she'd smile back. You'll never know until you do so.
